 Benefits of Participating in Second Life

The benefits and advantages of being in Second Life are as numerous and as varied as the tens of thousands of users who log in almost daily. Here we list some of the benefits & advantages:

• Connecting with real people around the globe, from virtually (sorry) every country
• Networking with people who can provide care, support, and understanding
• Further develop your "people skills"
• Learn a new language
• Address your own psychological, mental, emotional journey in a "judgement free" space
• Assistive technologies allow those with disabilities to participate in most if not all areas
• Great for college students from freshman up to Ph.D. levels - all disciplines
• New ways of solving problems, learning new problem-solving skills
• New opportunities in collaboration/social interaction
• Engage in new forms of communication
• Opportunities to build, create, comment and share content with other users
• Visit other cultures without leaving the classroom or your home

Having just typed all that, we think it's important to note that our first statement "Second Life is for human connection" really becomes clearer as you read the list above: the entire list is based upon everyone interacting with each other.

TIP

One thing we've learned in our many years in Second Life is this: Q-Tip - quit taking it personally. Other people have their own agendas and have a different perspective of who you are! Just be you and journey on!
